I LIKE THIS SONG!
This is such a great song. It had to have been difficult to sing -- they really pack the words in there. The Association was one of the greatest groups of all time.
I think he had great talent as well and he was one of ours AUSSIES have great talented people out there
Aznavour resterà per sempre una stella piena di luce nel firmamento della musica ...in Italia amatissimo
Debes saber, retirarte con indiferencia cuando el amor se retiró...porque yo yo no lo sé......,preciosa
When I laid down on my bed (listening to this) I heard voices in my head, telling me now "hey! it's not only a dream, it's the Beach Boys doing their magic".
Bob Seger said Jon sung his songs better then him and sorry Bob i got to agree. I really wish the Kiwis would step up when we Aussies claim their stars and tell us to fuck off
Wasn’t he great as the Pirate in Melbourne ❤️ Unbelievable!
As if the instrumental track wasn't already sublime. This song resonates throughout my soul. Thank you Brian, thank you Murry! And thanks to everybody else who put this song together!
Top song love it
It's one of the most important hit singles of the 1960s. The first rock song to acknowledge the power of marijuana in the counter culture.
Sweet sweet song. Beautiful fade.
Incredible!
Super!!!
Loved Jon as an entertainer. I saw him in theatre, on TV in various projects, and live just being a musician. Loved him in all of them. One of the most underrated, and most talented performer. I was privileged to see you in live performances. Thank you ❤️
even better than the orchestred one
That's not the life. A man can cry it's a humain, if he can not he not free...
I love this song! The Association rocks! ❤️ & ☮️

Everytime I hear this Song It takes me back to when I was kid in the 1950’s ! My uncle George Passantino would be up in his Loft Painting ! We’d Drink a Glass of wine ! Being Italian kids Drank one small glass ! He inspired me to go into Art Of course I wasn’t as Good as he was even now ! But the Kingston trio were Great ! They were sort of the First step to the 60’s Folk rockers ! I still listen to them even with the push back of my Kids !
hi steve just a huge me too relaxing hearing them again theyre as wonderful as it was then
I used to go and watch Jon and Macia Hines do their concerts together..
Yay, The Association!!😀
MARY BLOOMINGTON OFFICIAL ENTRANCE THEME MUSIC 🎶
at times it sounds like it's Carl and Brian double tracked and trying to sound as close to each other as possible. The "I can break away" section is Al Jardin. Something about Brian's vocal arrangements from this period is so bright, expansive. He was always changing, there isn't just one style of Beach Boys harmony
Brian sings "that very same love that passed me by and that is why" in the first verse. The rest is all Carl and Al on lead.
This song makes me think of how naive I was so many years ago at Mary's lake... Here's to birds laughing, double rainbows that were reflections of blurred vision, elk, snow, pumpkin spice candles, steak and eggs, awesome wine, bad hair day and self imposed car problems, broken promises, lies, fake tattoos JC Penny's haircuts and movies scenes that should have been cut out of the script many, many years ago. Yes, I'd trade Colorado for a life of love and happiness...🪶🦉🦉🦉🌬️👸😘🧜🤿🐙
This one was big in the spring of '66. We heard it on the radio and no one had an inkling what they were singing about. Maybe the biggest hit song up to that point dealing with pot. RIP Terry Kirkman.
Every time I think that I'm The only one who's lonely someone calls on me And every now and then I spend My time at rhyme and verse and curse those faults in me And then along comes Mary Mary, Mary Then along comes Mary Mary, Mary And does she wanna give me kicks And be my steady chick and give me pick of memories? Or maybe rather gather tales from all the Fails and tribulations no one ever sees? When we met I was sure out to lunch Now my empty cup tastes as sweet as the punch Sweet as the punch When vague desire is the fire in the eyes of chicks Whose sickness is the games they play And when the masquerade is played and neighbor folks Make jokes as who is most to blame today And then along comes Mary Mary, Mary Then along comes Mary Mary, Mary And does she wanna set them free And let them see reality from where she got her name? And will they struggle much when told that such A tender touch of hers will make them not the same? When we met I was sure out to lunch Now my empty cup tastes as sweet as the punch Sweet as the punch And when the morning of the warning's passed The gassed and flaccid kids are flung across the stars The psychodramas and the traumas gone The songs are left unsung and hung upon the scars And then along comes Mary Mary, Mary Then along comes Mary Mary, Mary And does she wanna see the stains the dead remains Of all the pains she left the night before? Or will their wakin' eyes reflect the lies And make them realize their urgent cry for sight no more? When we met I was sure out to lunch Now my empty cup tastes as sweet as the punch Sweet as the punch When we met I was sure out to lunch Now my empty cup tastes as sweet as the punch When we met I was sure out to lunch Now my empty cup tastes as sweet as the punch When we met I was sure out to lunch Now my empty cup tastes as sweet as the punch When we met I was sure out to lunch Now my empty cup tastes as sweet as the punch When we met I was sure out to lunch Now my empty cup tastes as sweet as the punch When we met I was sure out to lunch Now my empty cup tastes as sweet as the punch Sweet as the punch
Hollywood 7 is now a super 8! I’ve stayed there before lmao
Amazing... Blast off... kind of a song... loved this in my youth. If it is indeed Brian Cole on Bass, then please listen carefully - this song is driven by the Bass. Thank you for uploading this version!
My grandad met a beautiful french girl when he was a young man, they married and had a wonderful life together. She was so sweet, such a lovely nanna. This song always reminds me of them but with a happy ending ❤️
Loved the song ❤❤
There’s that bitter sweet feeling you get in a Beach Boys song that they were so good at.
Certainly one of their most underrated songs .. 💯🎶🎵
Harmonies - particularly as intricate as these are VERY hard to pull off. You don’t see many Beach Boys tribute acts.
But there is an abundance of Neil Diamond and bad Elvis tributes. Tells us something about degree of difficulty.
❤
Bring this music back. It's ear candy!
AMEN TO THAT!!!!!
Great song rhythm and harmony combined
Brilliant John. ❤️
Love it when he introduces Homer and Jethro on the Country Club album
Fantastic job John ❤

When this came out I would never have heard it because it was not played on the mainstream Radio stations as far as I am aware. I was at a disco and the DJ put this on. I asked him what it was and bought it the next day. It languished on the fringes of the charts here in the UK. He was born in England, a real talent, a very powerful song, sang powerfully as well which deserved much, much more recognition. Yes the music at the time was very strong but this song was still deserving a to be a number one in the charts and recognised as one of the greatest songs and performances of the decade and since as well
I had this album, was playing it before the Giants/Bears playoff game from Soldier Field in 1985.
I haven't heard this song in *decades*! It was Anthony Newly on THE TONIGHT SHOW, though.
I agree legend in my eyes RIP
Classic!
And when the morning of the warning's passed The gassed and flaccid kids are flung across the stars The psychodramas and the traumas gone The songs are left unsung and hung upon the scars And then along comes Mary
